Help us crack down on puppy mills- sign this petition!
Help us spread the message about puppy mill awareness! This petition needs 5000 signatures to be presented to the President (it's about halfway there). All you have to do is follow the link and sign!
No animal deserves to be treated this way!
(Source)
It takes one minutes to sign this, 2 minutes to email to all of your friends. Can you spare 3 minutes to help stop puppy mills?
Thanks to everyone that signs or passes along! Awareness is key!

Featured Pet of the Day!

| Looking for my fur-ever home, is it you? |
Everyone calls me Roscoe, but you can call me whatever you want :) I'm a friendly 5 year old hound that loves playing with my toys and getting lots and lots of attention. Right before I came to OPAC, I had some bladder issues, and I'm currently being treated right now for them. I love Grey's Anatomy, 30 Rock, or really any television show as long as I'm watching it with you! You really should come up and visit me because I'm not a huge fan of taking pictures, and I'm so much cuter (and fun!) in person. Call up the shelter today to visit me (248)391-4100 and tell them my ID# is 260313. Can't wait to meet you!

Featured Pet of the Day!
Hi, I'm Gus! I'm a 6 year old male neutered Lab mix that's really energetic and full of personality! I love to cuddling up on lazy Sundays (or pretty much anytime is good for me!). I would be perfect for a family that wants a walking and playing buddy...and who also doesn't mind having a big lap dog to snuggle up with on the couch.I promise I'll share the blankets! Call me at (248)391-4100 to schedule a visit! My ID number is 257497. I can't wait to meet you!

Who we are!
Just in case you've never heard of the Oakland Pet Adoption Center before, here is a brief overview of who we are, what our mission is, and why we're here!
The Oakland Pet Adoption Center works with the Oakland County Animal Control, and deal with all animals in Oakland County Michigan. We were created in 1980 and are located in Auburn Hills.
Our mission: to provide a temporary safe haven for animals until we find them permanent homes.
Everyday, we receive animals for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are strays, or an owner is unable to care for them properly, or we have found the animal through our animal control division. We provide medical treatment, shelter, food and lots of love to every animal that comes in. If the animal is healthy, we adopt them out to fur-ever homes. We have so many adorable dogs and cats available for adoption, please come in anytime and find your new best friend!
While our primary goal is animal adoption, we also try to educate citizens on proper pet ownership. We offer low cost spay/neuter clinics for those in need, licensing of animals and a knowledgeable vet staff for questions about animal treatment and medical care.
We are a non-profit organization, so we do a lot of fundraising events to keep our animals healthy and happy! Stay tuned for future event announcements!
We love all animals and do our best to help them all! Animals do not make your whole life, but they make your life whole :)
Thanks for reading and we hope you enjoy our blog!
